Gerd Lückel Appointed Managing Director of DEG Impact
Effective 15 February 2026, Gerd Lückel joined DEG Impact as Managing Director, forming the company’s new dual leadership team together with Thomas Klein. This appointment further strengthens DEG Impact’s growth trajectory and strategic development.
DEG Impact is a wholly owned subsidiary of DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft. Since 2020, DEG Impact has been providing professional investors with investment advisory services focused on developing and emerging markets. Its mission is to help clients build high-performing, impact-oriented portfolios that successfully combine ESG considerations, measurable impact, and long-term financial returns. The company draws on its extensive knowledge of local markets as well as the global network of DEG, the KfW Group subsidiary that finances and advises private-sector companies in developing and emerging economies.
Gerd Lückel brings more than 30 years of experience in financial markets, with a particular focus on asset management for German institutional investors. Prior to joining DEG Impact, he served as a Managing Director of an asset management company in Hanover, where he was responsible, among other areas, for portfolio management.
Earlier in his career, he worked in investment consulting and strategic advisory services for institutional investors, including insurance companies, banks, pension schemes, foundations, and church-related organizations. Through these roles, he has developed a deep understanding of the requirements, expectations, and investment objectives of institutional clients.
With his extensive expertise in asset management and institutional advisory services, Gerd Lückel will play an important role in supporting DEG Impact’s continued growth and further expanding its investment advisory capabilities in developing and emerging markets.
